TFT Featured In Quantum Health Magazine

Posted in Trauma Relief on February 14th, 2010 by Roger Callahan – Be the first to comment

tft-articleEnergetic Medicine Research recently featured Thought Field Therapy in their Quantum Health magazine.

Dr. Callahan’s life-long quest for more effective ways to help clients–without the need for them to suffer during the healing process—has resulted in a simple yet highly effective method of healing negative emotions, including the debilitating effects of trauma.

TFT works across all age groups, genders and cultures – even other species (dogs, cats, horses, etc.)

One of the aspects of TFT of which we’re most proud is that it is perfectly safe. We’re aware of no cases of harm over 30 years of healing. This degree of safety is rare in today’s health care systems.

TFT can have the most profound and immediate impact on the life of an individual, indeed of the world, by healing the effects of trauma. The world is filled with the agony of trauma from natural disasters to the man-made violence of war, genocide and terrorism. When people become stuck in trauma’s vice-like grip, we see a continued cycle of violence.

Victims become perpetrators. Their lives are filled with anger, hatred, revenge and violence, unable to feel hope or joy. The need to open their hearts to peace, compassion and hope for the future–and break this cycle of violence–is vital to our existence as a species and our planet as a whole.

The ATFT Foundation is deeply committed to its mission of providing TFT trauma relief to those who need it, wherever that may be in the world. Effective TFT trauma relief can be done quickly and at no cost to needy communities. Additionally, it can be taught to local leaders in a couple of days, enabling them to capably continue the healing long after the foundation team has left.

These humanitarian and educational efforts are refined and improved with the aid of research. After several missions to traumatized areas throughout the world, the ATFT Foundation has developed a dynamic model for volunteer response to large-scale trauma anywhere in the world.

Our first indication of how truly effective TFT can be in the face of horrific large-scale trauma was in Kosovo. Dr. Carl Johnson led several teams of TFT practitioners to this war-torn country, where they found that using TFT to treat victims of the war produced a very high success rate that has held up over time. (Johnson, C., Shala, M., Sejdijaj, X., Odell, R., & Dabishevci, D. (2001). Thought Field Therapy: Soothing the bad moments of Kosovo. Journal of Clinical Psychology, 57(10), 1237- 1240).

Since that time, the ATFT Foundation has sponsored many TFT trauma relief missions throughout the world. The research that has been conducted during some of these missions clearly demonstrates TFT’s high level of effectiveness with severely traumatized populations. During more recent efforts, in Rwanda and Uganda, the teams left in place an infrastructure of trained TFT therapists to support their local communities with trauma relief and healing.

The ATFT Foundation has sponsored TFT trauma relief work throughout the world. The extraordinary results have been consistent and stood the test of time. It would be both economically and logistically difficult, if not impossible, to accomplish this kind of large-scale trauma relief with more traditional, long term therapies. TFT allows us to help those populations and regions that are often underserved and neglected.

The ATFT Foundation’s trauma relief blog is a resource for all to learn TFT trauma relief procedures. It is free of charge and in many languages. Share this site with anyone who needs help.

Free Trauma Relief to Friends and Family of Haiti Earthquake Victims

Posted in Trauma Relief on January 17th, 2010 by Roger Callahan – Be the first to comment

Haiti Earthquake trauma

While it is much too soon to begin to think about helping with the psychological traumas of the survivors in the after effect of the massive earthquake in Haiti, it is important to begin the psychological healing of the families and friends who are living elsewhere, and providing trauma relief for the rescue crews, first responders, troops going in to serve and their families. Even the press and viewers are being effected by the constant stream of heart wrenching images and reports of losses.

The ATFT Foundation has provided Thought Field Therapy® (TFT), the original meridian tapping therapy for trauma, to victims of wars, genocides and natural disasters, including Hurricane Katrina and the floods in Tabasco, Mexico.

TFT has been safely used to heal psychological problems for 30 years, and PTSD studies have demonstrated it to be highly effective in quickly eliminating the debilitating effects of even the worst of traumas with lasting results.

Early and regular use of these safe, self-applied protocols, can reduce or eliminate crippling grief, secondary traumatization, compassion fatigue and burn-out of our rescue workers and first responders. TFT can also reduce the stress and fears burdening the families of the rescue workers and response teams on the ground.

To this end, the ATFT Foundation’s TFT Trauma Relief Blog teaches these TFT trauma relief procedures in English, Japanese, Chinese, German, Russian, Spanish, French and Italian. These procedures are the very same, powerful tools used successfully in Kosovo with war victims, Rwandan genocide survivors, New Orleans Hurricane Katrina victims, and other traumatized regions.

The TFT Trauma Relief blog also has 34 powerful stories about how TFT has relieved the trauma of war, suicide, genocide, kidnapping, prison, massive burns, rape, etc. Our most recent story is Juanita Van Ham’s account of how TFT transformed her experience after being severely traumatized in a bank robbery.

The tapping techniques are provided in print and video formats, to all who are in need.

Please, if you have any family or friends that have been affected by the devastating earthquake in Haiti, or have loved ones deployed in the rescue efforts, take advantage of these free, powerful self-help tools.

ATFT In Rwandan – TFT Making A Difference

Posted in Case Studies on December 24th, 2009 by Roger Callahan – Be the first to comment

Rwandese Rainbow

We have a preliminary report of the progress being made following our ATFT Trauma Relief interventions this August in Byumba, Rwanda. We are attaching the draft that we received from Brother Augustine. The report sent by Brother Augustine, summarizes the reports sent in by each of the thirty-six therapists we trained this August. The therapist’s reports had to be translated from Kinyarwanda to English by Brother Augustine, and this report, attached, contains the responses thus far translated. It is a busy season now in Rwanda and we may get a more complete summary sometime early next year.

It is good to know that the thirty- six therapist the ATFT Team trained have treated 622 people since our departure at the end of August. That is in addition to the 200 plus persons treated by the Rwandan therapists while we were there. It seems that TFT is making a big difference in the lives of the therapist’s, in the lives of those whose lives the therapists touch, and in the larger communities in which they live.

Good work ATFT members! All of you have helped in some really significant way. Thanks especially to team members, Caroline Sakai, Gordon Barrett, Carmen Carrasco, Gary and Cyndie Quinn.

Happy Holidays!

The Living Matrix

The Living Matrix Movie

I just returned from a spectacular live screening of the Living Matrix Movie in Hollywood.

It was a sold out event, with over 600 people filling the Egyptian Theatre.

I found it very exciting to watch and listen to so many forward thinking minds on the new science of healing, and, see that TFT is recognized as part of that new science, and was included in the Living Matrix Movie.

The director and producer, Greg and Susan Becker, along with the Executive Producer, Harry Massey were all there and it was a pleasure to meet with them.

We also had the opportunity to speak with the panel and hear their views for the future of healing and science and hear some amazing stories.

Lynne McTaggert, Eric Pearl, Marilyn Schlitz, Peter Fraser, and Deborah Rozman, all participants in the Living Matrix film, were all present and spoke on the panel.

I had a wonderful conversation with Lynne and thanked her for her hearty endorsement of TFT and our Trauma Relief work.

If you don’t have a copy of the Living Matrix yet, be sure and get one. It is excellent, gives support for and of TFT along with many other cutting edge healing modalities.

Click this link to get your copy…

I believe the next screening will be in San Francisco. If you are in that area be sure and attend.

Tapping Away Trauma Around The World

Posted in Thought Field Therapy on August 20th, 2009 by Roger Callahan – Be the first to comment

Caroline Sakai, PhD., a psychologist and TFT practitioner, based in Hawaii, headed a team of therapists who worked with children in an orphanage in Kigali, Rwanda. The children survived the Rwandan genocide in 1994, in which 800,000 to 1 million people were slaughtered during the course of 100 days. Dr Sakai was interviewed by Michiko Ishikawa for Share International.

Share International: How did you come to work with the genocide survivors in Rwanda?

Caroline Sakai: The idea came up when I was in New Orleans as part of an ATFT Foundation Trauma Relief Team working with Hurricane Katrina survivors and first responders – doctors, nurses and security people who were working with the survivors. One of the team members, Paul Oas, a psychotherapist and minister, asked me if I could work with the genocide survivors of Rwanda. His church has been helping to support the El Shaddai orphanage in Kigali, Rwanda, by providing necessities like food and shelter. He was seeing the effects of the genocide trauma among the children in terms of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) – nightmares, flashbacks, insomnia, bedwetting, depression, withdrawal and rage. Reverend Oas wanted to take a TFT team there and work with the genocide survivors. Since I had headed the clinical team in New Orleans, he asked if I could do that in Rwanda.

The complete TFT treatment for trauma would be essentially following up with what else comes up for the client after successfully processing through the targeted trauma.

Targeting any residual body sensations often brings up further information to process through, more perturbations. This would be continued until no more perturbations can be found, and client now thinks about the trauma or phobia with clearly changed perspectives, affect, thoughts, intensity, vividness, body sensations, perceptions in all sensory modalities, etc.

Using the Peak Performance protocol to enhance and improve confidence in coping effectively in dealing with the problem is an important component that parallels the future template. The usual instructions for the client to call if there are any recurrence of symptoms would also be in effect, as well as follow-up session(s) to work on residuals or other material that emerges subsequently in awake or dream states.

SI: What is unique about your method of working with trauma?

CS: Thought Field Therapy is the most rapidly effective, and most gentle, treatment of trauma I have come across. read more »

TFT Summer Travels, Trainings and Teleclasses

boston-Roger and Joanne Callahan

Roger and I have just returned from Boston and a great Optimal Health course where some of our long time practitioners of TFT, as well as a few new ones, have added the Voice Technology level to their skills.  They came from numerous health care fields to add the convenience and effectiveness of TFT VT to support the emotional health of their clients and training base.  It was a very diverse group and we all shared information on tapping within the fields of nursing, acupuncture, homeopathy, naturopathy, Reiki, hypnosis, trauma specialists and counseling, and, even a little EMDR.

While there, Roger taped a brief interview with Tom Greenhalgh, Executive Director of National Public Safety Solutions,  for his training programs.  I taped a brief segment on our trauma relief work and our Freedom R & R program for our returning veterans, for the ATFT Foundation,  and our Trauma Relief Blog.

Tom has an excellent production crew and facility and our hope is to have these tapes available to all our trainers for use in their trainings as well.  I will keep our trainers posted on their availability (on the trainer’s list serve).  Thank you Tom!

During the course we saw some excellent improvements in HRV’s as we worked on everyone’s personal issues throughout the weekend.  The objective self-testing and self-treatment methods allowed everyone to help themselves in many areas, as well as improve their clients, especially those who they had found difficult to help in the past.

One attendee helped a client with the recent death of a parent, another helped a sibling with PTSD from war, and several helped family members with various physical pain issues.  We had a variety of problems to practice on and they were enlightening learning experiences for everyone.

Also, this week will be Week 8 of our Eight Week Teleclass, Tapping the Healer Within. It has been a great experience for both Roger and I, and our class attendees.  They are doing an amazing job of healing themselves and family members of all kinds of life stresses, past traumas, over eating, claustrophobia and much more.  The teleclass format has proven to be a very effective way to help many people and provide them with one-on-one interaction with Roger and I, both on the weekly call and via e-mail, at a very reasonable cost.

Due to the success of this teleclass, we will be offering additional classes on other subjects.  Our country’s current economic state and the increased daily stress for most people make a low cost, easy to attend teleclass an effective way to solve problems.

As many are facing job interviews, employee reviews, new social or peer groups as your situations change, we find many of our customers are experiencing some degree of discomfort with these events.  We are planning a 3 or 4 week class for eliminating fear of public speaking, performance anxiety and social phobias.  Watch for this class to begin in October 2009.

Early 2010, we will offer a class to help achieve and maintain better health as you stick to your New Years Resolutions.  It will cover addictive cravings such as food, drink or smoking, gluttony and even withdrawal issues.  We will announce the dates in late fall.  As we can only give individual attention and help to a limited number of people, this class will be on a first come, first served basis.  Watch for more news on our new TeleClass schedule later this month.

Stress and Trauma Relief on the Front Lines with TFT

We just received a report from a TFT practitioner on the front lines that they are having amazing successes with TFT and helping with stress reduction with the troops.

He requested 500 wallet sized trauma relief cards and other easily transported support materials.  Dr. Roger and Joanne Callahan sent them out immediately, so pleased to be able to support our troops with these simple self-help procedures.  He requested materials that he could use for rapid treatments and self help tools for our troops serving in harms way. Will keep everyone updated…. Caroline Sakai, PhD, TFTdx, VT

Working Toward Peace, One Heart At A Time – TFT Trauma Relief

Posted in Trauma Relief on May 2nd, 2009 by Roger Callahan – Be the first to comment

Triangle Hands by Photos8.com

As TFT leaders, we have demonstrated the revolutionary power of TFT to bring peace to one’s life, over many years and in many countries.

We’ve have also experienced the frustration of not being able to get it to the world fast enough to help all who need the healing power of TFT!

Now we are working to have TFT available to all who need it, in any country and any language. We have combined the healing power of TFT with the powerful communication tool of the internet!

It takes virtually no money or moving bodies—just our joint effort to add information and connect it to the individuals and communities in need.

Millions of people worldwide suffer from violence, natural disaster, illness, divorce, loss of job, home or loved ones, etc. Imagine what impact the relief of their suffering—the fear, grief, guilt, stress, anger, hatred—could have on the world?

Helping people with anxiety, trauma and stress is what we do best. Giving the gift of emotional freedom from trauma, stress and anxiety, is a wonderful thing.

The simple words of the priests in Uganda, TFT trauma treatment gave them “…a grace they had longed for…” (see previous post) and it clearly demonstrates what a humbling tool the gift of Thought Field Therapy is for peace in the world.

It’s a beautiful demonstration of how using TFT to relieve the effects of trauma can open people to peace, compassion and community. What a difference it could make in areas that have been plagued by violent conflict.

The implication of this kind of transformation is truly inspirational, especially considered on a large scale!

HELP RELIEVE SUFFERING ON A GLOBAL SCALE!

ATFT Foundation In Uganda

ATFT Foundation Relief work

“…a grace they had longed for…”

The following is a brief excerpt from an upcoming article about the work our ATFT Foundation just completed in Uganda.

This is why we believe our trauma relief work is so very important.

“Several of the those participating had been at the Lachor seminary in 2003 when LRA rebels attacked. Government troops counterattacked, unleashing a two hour gunfight at the seminary. But the rebels succeeded, kidnapping 41 teenage boys, marching them, roped in a long column, away to be conscripted into their guerrilla army. Three people were killed.

The priests’ anguish as they silently reflected on their memories of this horror was palpable. As their fellow priests, newly trained, treated them, all watching were eased to feel it pass, like a great oppressive weight lifting from the room. Several of the those treated were transformed, explaining to us the profound compassion and forgiveness they now felt, compassion even for the rebels. This was a grace that they had longed for but had resignedly feared they would never know in this life.”

The ATFT Foundation team trained nearly 500 Ugandans, treated almost that many and left an infrastructure with TFT to serve 500,000 people in Uganda.

AMOURAPHOBIA: Eliminate It and Experience Unparalleled Happiness in Your Love Relationship

Posted in Trauma Relief on February 9th, 2009 by Roger Callahan – Be the first to comment

As we enter February and approach Valentine’s Day many of us turn our thoughts to our love relationships. Some of us are grateful for the love of our lives, while many others are asking themselves – Why do I always get a loser? – or – How can I find that special person and not sabotage it?

Amouraphobia is at the root of many of the troubles with our love life. It is caused by the very severe personal trauma that virtually everyone one of us has suffered – at one time or another in our lives, loss of a lover. I call this horrible trauma LOVE PAIN. Many may joke about this pain but underneath the humor seethes remnants of the past suffering and terrible LOVE PAIN.

Severe love pain is supposed to only happen to adolescents. Because they are more vulnerable and open to intense romantic love (Romeo and Juliet were adolescents) they do suffer to a greater degree than their elders.

My first book, IT CAN HAPPEN TO YOU was about amouraphobia and its manifold effects, especially it’s potential for destroying the chance for a happy and fulfilling romantic life – even if you happen to have the ideal partner.

As a result of my theory, I found that those who had suffered severe love pain, in the past, often became severe amouraphobes. I then discovered a very effective treatment for amouraphobia and the severe trauma from the past love loss. It is quite possible, if you do these self-help procedures, you will notice it is easier to give, communicate, and receive romantic love, perhaps better than you have since you were very young.

Many people believe that the most common phobias are fear of public speaking or fear of death. Perhaps not? Based on my decades of experience and clinical practice, I believe the most common fear is, fear of intense romantic love, amouraphobia. I did considerable clinical research on amouraphobia and I found that it caused many problems and was much more common than we realized.

When my book, IT CAN HAPPEN TO YOU, first came out, it received much media attention. However, at that time, while it was an intriguing topic, I had not yet discovered a treatment for it. Even so, US magazine did a full story on it, Phil Donahue devoted a whole show to the concept and the media devoured it.

Now, however, I understand the phenomenon of amouraphobia, what causes it and the problems it causes in our lives, robbing many of a satisfying and fulfilling romantic relationship.

I will be talking about my findings in an upcoming Free teleclass, Thursday, Februady 12, 2009, at 6:00 PM PST.

Surprisingly enough, the same treatment that is needed to relieve love pain is the very same treatment we use on severe traumas. The treatment needed to eliminate the amouraphobia is our common phobia treatment, best used after using the trauma treatment to treat past love pain and grief.

If you miss the free teleclass, we provide free Trauma Self-Help from our web site . This help is available in English, Spanish and a video in Chinese. We will be adding new languages soon. This is the very same, powerful treatment we have used in our trauma relief missions in Rwanda, Kosovo, New Orleans, Uganda and to help our returning veterans.

ATFT Foundation Team Leaves for Uganda

Posted in Trauma Relief on January 28th, 2009 by Joanne Callahan – 1 Comment

Our ATFT Foundation’s TFT research and trauma relief team leaves for Uganda in less than two weeks.

We thank them for their hard work, dedication and willingness to give so much of themselves to help others. We also thank all of you who have contributed to help make this mission possible.

The use of Thought Field Therapy (TFT) to address the world wide problems of trauma and malaria is a low cost, effective way to reduce suffering and improve the quality of life for the people afflicted and their families. TFT also provides the possibility of saving lives without adding to environmental pollution with toxic chemicals. TFT meets the needs of the poor because it is affordable for all – even the poorest of villages and people in the most poverty stricken regions. It can be taught at the grass roots and community level and most importantly, it does no harm to the individual or the environment.

Since 2004, the ATFT Foundation has successfully used TFT to treat genocide victims in Kigali, Rwanda. In 2006-2008 the ATFT Foundation completed two very successful PTSD studies, orphans and then adult genocide victims. Note: see articles in UPdate, Issue 8, Spring 2008.

The remarkable aspect of the second study, 2008, performed in conjunction with a researcher from Arizona State University, is that the actual treatment for PTSD was performed by local community leaders. The ATFT Foundation, 2 person, team trained a small group of local community leaders, therapists and clergy. After a brief 2-day training, these same community leaders treated 151 severely traumatized participants for 184 problems. The average subject units of distress (SUDS) pre treatment measure was 9.3 (on a scale of 0-10) and the post treatment measure (SUDS) was 0.61.

Thought Field Therapy is unique in that it can be quickly and easily applied by trained helpers in the community without harm. The technique provides immediate and profound relief at the mental, physical and spiritual levels. It ends nightmares, and alleviates pain, anxiety and anger. These outcomes are enduring as compared to many other modalities currently being researched in Rwanda and elsewhere.

The ATFT Foundation has established a workable template that can be applied in a greatly expanded manner. We continue to develop this model of response to large scale trauma situations where a team can train local community leaders to treat others affected. The first of these expanded plans with this PTSD model will be implemented in Uganda.

Additionally, our team will begin a malaria research project based on the pilot study done in 2004 in Tanzania. We have been invited to work with the local Catholic diocese who will provide the structure for training and travel to the various villages. The Catholic priest, Fr. Peter Mubunga Basaliza, who is our host and organizer, was treated with TFT for malaria, during his training here in the USA. All of his malaria symptoms were eliminated in a demonstration in front of the class in a TFT training last January, 2008.

Our dedicated international team members are:

·Dr. Howard and Phyllis Robson from the UK, who will lead the malaria study.

·Stein and Carine Halvorsen, leaders in the Norwegian ATFT will lead the training of the 300 local Ugandans. Stein is our trainer for all levels of TFT in Scandinavia, running the TFT academy.

·Dr. Robert Bray, author and a certified trauma specialist and TFT trainer in the USA will lead our PTSD study.

·Roger Ludwig, a psychotherapist specializing in trauma, in the USA will assist with the PTSD study as well as trainings.

These projects are vitally important for several reasons:

1. The PTSD work is an easily replicable project that could be incorporated into existing humanitarian programs with significant results.

2.Malaria is a world wide problem with costly medications that are unavailable to many of the regions where it is most prevalent.

3. Trauma, whether man-made or natural disasters, is ever-increasing. Many victims never receive the kind of assistance TFT can provide. I believe if we can get these tools in the hands of the victims, we can help them help themselves so they can move on to be productive human beings, and break the cycle of violence. We have seen this happening with the orphans of genocide in Rwanda.

4.Uganda is in desperate need of help for trauma and malaria. We have a welcome partner with existing infrastructure to introduce and expand our ATFT Foundation model.
